Geneva tourist information & hotel reservations
We warmly welcome you to visit Geneve and wish you a wonderful vacation.

Sitting on the doorstep of France, the charming city of Geneva is impressive international cultural and industrial center with its 250 international organizations based here, the most important being as the European headquarters for the United Nations, the World Health Organization, and the International Red Cross.
Due to its relatively ideological and geographic isolation from Switzerland, Geneva is almost like one of those old European “city states”.
Geneva lies in the Rhône Valley at the southwestern part of Lake Geneva (Lac Léman), between the Jura Mountains and the majestic Alps. The city is the capital of the canton of Geneva – which is the 2nd smallest canton in the Confederation of Switzerland; however Geneva is the 2nd largest city in the country and has a perfect setting on one of the biggest alpine lakes and within view of the pinnacle of Mont Blanc. With plenty of beautiful parks and promenades, the city turns into a virtual garden during the summer. Geneva is also one of the healthiest big cities world-wide, due to the prevailing north-winds, which take away all air pollution.
Encircled by French territory, Geneva is linked to Switzerland only by the lake and a narrow corridor, hence the strong French influence shows in its mansard roofs, iron balconies, sidewalk cafes, as well as French signs. Anyway, Geneva has a long history of diversity and great tolerance dating back to the Protestant Reformation. Today, the city is a great cultural center one of the leading in world class entertainment, top rated restaurants and unlimited possibilities of for recreation and tourism. A landmark of the city and Geneva’s most popular monument - The Jet d'eau, is the world’s tallest water fountain. The ancient Old Town offers a living glimpse of the past, while the Geneva’s more than 30 museums and art galleries cover the rich and vibrant history of this outstanding city. Geneva is also excellent base for exploring the nearby countryside - whether interested in biking, boating, hiking, wine-tasting or looking for an exciting skiing or snowboarding in Switzerland, the city provides one with easy access to all of these, many different tours, as well as various day trips to the adjacent towns of Lausanne, Chamonix and Montreux.
