Zurich transportation information. Getting there by train, car, flight.
By Plane
The international airport of Zurich - Kloten Airport is actually the largest airport in the country and the most popular gateway to and from Switzerland. The airport is on about eleven kilometers north of the city downtown. It is fast and easily reachable by taxi, or by far cheaper option - the Swiss Federal Railways trains, which takes only fifteen minutes from the Zurich Hauptbahnhof – the main railroad station in the downtown.
By Train
There are several trains from Paris (the Gare de l'Est) which arrive in Zurich without other intermediate stops. The trip takes around 8 hours. Zurich can also be reached by train via Basel. There are two such trains – leaving Paris at 2:43pm and 5:19pm, both traveling around 7 hours. There are also two trains from Munich, leaving at 6:15pm and 8:15pm and traveling around 4 hours. All trains stop at Zurich’s Hauptbahnhof railway station.
By Car
From Basel, one should get N3 east; and from Geneva, head N1 northeast, going via Bern, where you will link with E4 and E17, going east into Zurich.
By Boat
The Zurichsee-Schifffahrtsgesellschaft, situated on Mythenquai 333 provides with regularly scheduled service on modern passenger-ships, as well as on old steamers both sides of Zurich Lake.
