The small town of Saanen is the historical heart of the Saanenland and is a picturesque chalet village in the Bernese Oberland. The resort is listed amongst the townscapes of Switzerland for protection and preservation of its traditional character. Visitors to this beautiful Swiss village will be attracted by the local handicrafts and the rich history of Saanen. The historical town is situated on the border of the Romandie - the French speaking area.

Saanen Attractions and Ski Holidays

Some of the highlights of Saanen include the village center with chalets from the fifteenth to the eighteenth century, the Museum der Landschaft Saanen and Menuhin Center Saanen. Popular events held in the town are Hublot Polo Gold Cup, the traditional village markets and
Saanen Promenade Concert. The activities in the resort of Saanen include hiking, biking skiing and snowboarding, winter walking, etc. For downhill skiers, the Eggli-Videmanette connects the village of Saanen and Gstaad with Rougemont. Access to the Eggli snow sport area is within reach of the resort and other skiing areas are only fifteen minutes away.

The nearest airports here are Airfield Saanen, Geneva-Cointrin and Bern-Belpmoos.
By train one can reach Saanen:
From Bern – Spiez, change for Zweisimmen and again change for Saanen.
From Geneve to Montreux, where one have to change for Saanen.
By car via A6 Berne - Wimmis - Zweisimmen – Saanen; or via A1 Geneva - Aigle - Château-d'Oex - Saanen.
