Schonried and the nearby resort of Saanenmöser, are situated on a beautiful sunny terrace in the region of Gstaad. The Swiss resort of Schönried provides winter sport enthusiasts with good possibilities of access to the nearby skiing areas, cross-country trails and winter walking paths. The Horneggli lift provides with access to the largest skiing region of Gstaad Mountain Rides - Hornberg/Saanersloch/St.Stephan/Rinderberg, which has one hundred and twenty kilometers of ski slopes. The Rellerli cable car will lift one up to the sunniest peak of the area, where one can enjoy some magnificent views
The multiple world ski champion and winner of the world cup, Michael von Grünigen practiced his first snow-plows in the mountains of Schönried. On his way “to the top” of the international ski scene, “Mike’, as he is known to the locals, practiced regularly on the Rellerli and on the Horneggli.

Schonried Ski Holidays

The local ski area of Schonried is small, but very nicely located near the resort center. However, Schonried is just on a short train journey from the famous ski resort of Gstaad with its large skiing area and number of winter sport facilities. The train is included in the lift ticket and via bus one can also go to Diablerets.
There are 2 airports within 2 hours drive from Schonried, so ski weekends and short vacations are popular in the area. Berne - Belpmoos is just on an hour drive away, so one can quickly reach the ski runs.

The nearest airports to Schönried are these in Berne-Belpmoos, Geneve and Airfield Saanen.
By train one can reach the resort:
From Bern - Spiez, change for Zweisimmen and again change to Schönried; or
From Geneve - Montreux with a change for Schonried.
By car:
Via A6 Berne - Thun - Wimmis - Zweisimmen - Saanenmoser – Schonried.
Via A1 Geneva - Lausanne - Aigle - Chateau-d'Oex - Saanen – Schönried.
