If you come a long way you might want to visit Switzerland with an airplane. The main international airports of Zürich, Geneve and Berne have some excellent hotel accommodation for those who arrive late or depart early in the morning and could have a nice rest after or before their flights near the airports. Zürich airport has a train station nearby and via the railways one can reach many Swiss towns and some destinations abroad. However, some other cities and resorts, usually the smaller ones could require train changes, often at Zürich HB (Haubtbahnhof - the central station of the city).

However, if you wish a more free schedule and explore the places of interest at your own pace, own or a rented car is also a good option.
